Waterford Regional Hospital
Cross Refrigeration recently completed the installation
of two Foster BC200 Blast chillers to the kitchen of
Waterford Regional Hospital. Cross were successful in
getting this contract, firstly because we were competitively
priced, and also because we are very experienced in
this field. We have completed many similar installations
throughout Ireland, many of which were for hospital
kitchens.
Serving over 500 meals at any one time, the WRH staff
required a blast chiller that was large enough to cope
with that demand. Cross Refrigeration were able to meet
that specification comfortably using our premium Foster
BC200 range, which is capable of cooling 200kgs of food
from +70° C to +3° C in less than 90 minutes.
We also installed a large chilled holding room adjacent
to the blast chillers where the meals are stored

Because the WRH kitchen never shuts we were required to complete
this entire installation between 3pm on Friday and 11am the
next day. Our engineers worked throughout the night and actually
finished the installation ahead of schedule!
This installation is a perfect example of why professional
project management is such an important part of today’s
refrigeration installation.
